CIAS Director Mike Bell and ten UW-Madison students are spending part of their winter break in South Africa. Bell is leading the students in a service learning course on the agroecology of health. This week, they are in a rural village in the Eastern Cape province. The students are planting fruit trees, improving garden beds and developing a compost system for a school garden established by the CIAS LAND Project with community partners last year.
