Transportation policy for agriculture and food
Special session at TRB
CIAS holds a seat on the National Academy of Sciences standing committee on agriculture and food. We are leading a session at the upcoming NAS transportation conference on policies that affect agriculture and food transportation, January 10, 2023. The session will address the Administration’s reports on supply chains, the agri-food system and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2022. Leading industry speakers will address rail, barge, and trucking concerns.
CIAS and graduate students from the Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture will attend sessions on transportation ontologies, freight movements and last mile delivery to consumers. This is to inform collaborative work on the national Farm to Facts program and Smart Foodsheds work, part of our work with the National Science Foundation Artificial Intelligence Institute at Ohio State University, ICICLE.
