This site provides tools and strategies to help small and medium-sized fruit and vegetable farms make informed labor decisions.

    Our hypothesis—backed by extensive data we’ve gathered during the last four years—is that greater diversity in crops, livestock, and people in the Corn Belt farming community will improve risk management options, resilience, and profitability.

    This decade-long, multi-institution project led by the
    University of Vermont has develop resources to help farmers improve farm labor management know-how that are housed on the Farm Labor Dashboard website. John Hendrickson has created decision support tools to (1) help growers estimate the full cost of hired labor and (2) a partial budgeting tool that evaluates the financial impact of purchasing “labor saving” equipment.
