Water Filtration Ring
A water infiltration ring is a simple device for measuring a soil’s ability to absorb water. You can make rings as follows:
Cut a 5” length of 1/8 inch thick aluminum irrigation pipe (see Building a Soil Quality Test Kit). Leave a beveled edge at one end of the pipe segment, and mark a line around the outside of the ring 3 inches from the beveled edge.
