Dr. Marie Carmen Shingne has joined CIAS
We are excited to announce that Dr. Marie Carmen Shingne has joined our team at CIAS as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Marie will bring her systems-level lens and sustainable agriculture experience to two related projects starting here at CIAS: developing an “oat road map” to chart the course for a thriving regional food-grade oat economy in the Upper Midwest, and developing the idea and application of a regional “grainshed”.
Marie Carmen is an Environmental Sociologist and uses applied, participatory methods to ask rigorous academic questions and co-create practical solutions designed by and for the people they are meant to serve. Her work draws on an intentionally interdisciplinary foundation: a PhD in Sociology from Michigan State University, a Master’s in Animals and Public Policy from Tufts University, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Welcome to the team Marie Carmen!
