Presentation: Value Chain Coordination in Agri-Food
Véronique De Herde, A Fulbright visiting scholar, will be presenting her research project on value chain coordination in agri-food, on Tuesday, November 18, in a seminar co-hosted by the Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems and the UW Center for Cooperatives.

The project explores the role of value chains in supporting transformative farm practices, with a focus on the diversity of value chain coordination models that can be mobilized towards these goals. Using a configurational approach, Véronique aims to gather data from empirical cases of values-based value chains in the Midwest and beyond. Her analysis examines combinations of governance choices (governance structures, degree of integration, nature of coordination), stakeholder interactions’ features and context observed empirically. She intends to analyse these combinations through the lens of causal complexity, applying a qualitative comparative analytical process to identify and discuss the conjunctions that are empirically relevant in supporting agricultural transformative practices within the development of just value chains.
